Background & Sustainability
With a background in print & design, quality print and paper are so important. The greeting cards are printed on a premium uncoated paper. The material is textured giving an extra sense to touch as well as sight. The cards are printed locally in County Kildare.
The envelopes are made in Ireland and are 100% recycled, made from 100% post-consumer waste. Even the gum found on our envelopes is water based, biodegradable and environmentally friendly.
From the outset, we committed to being a sustainable small business, treating our environment with respect
There is no single-use plastic and no unnecessary packaging.
My Lived Experience of Loss
I lost my dad age 9, a best friend when I was 34 and my world, my mum, when I was 46.
My world changed forever that day.
All the grief built up silently over all the years for those special people, along with others like my grandparents and came crashing down like a giant wave.
Everyone’s grief experience is indeed unique. My friends hadn’t yet lost their parents and while they were so very supportive, until you have experienced grief it can be very difficult to truly deeply understand.
In this way grief can be isolating for many, a lonely road.
Mine led me to find comfort in the words of others.
In quotes, I found solace. Someone else’s beautiful words were able to read my broken heart in moments my mind couldn’t comprehend.
I found strength in knowing I wasn’t alone, that others too have walked through the depths of loss and found a way to keep going.
When there were no words, I found peace in the healing power of written words.
There is immense comfort in knowing you are not alone. In knowing that someone understands or that someone remembers your person or that someone acknowledges your pain.
Seven years on, I have befriended my grief. It has changed me in unimaginable ways, shaping both my life and my purpose.
The first step on this journey is to share words with others through our non-religious, heartfelt cards & prints, designed and printed in Ireland under our brand, Good Grief.
Because grief doesn’t always have to be grey & sad, grief is love and that is powerful.
